1. About our master’s degrees

We offer the following postgraduate qualifications, which are awarded on the results of examinations (usually consisting of both written papers and the submission of a dissertation or report) following a course of advanced study. Provides in-depth training in a specialist subject as well as an opportunity to hone your expertise and develop your research and/or technical skills. Combines taught material with an element of independent research, normally assessed in the form of a substantial dissertation or report.

The Mechanical discipline of Hohai University was founded in 1986. Our college can offer M.E. degree in “Mechanical and Electrical Control and Automation” from 1990. Mechanical Engineering was recognized as a key discipline of the Ministry of Water Resources (MWR) in 1996. The M.E. degrees in “Mechanical Design and Theory”, “Material Processing Engineering” and “Mechanical and Electrical Control and Automation” were offered in 1994, 1996 and 2003 respectively. And the first-level M.E. degree in “Mechanical Engineering” was approved in 2005. Now there are 5 Ph.D.supervisors and 15 professors under this discipline.

To achieve the goal of “Water Feature, Discipline Integration”, this discipline closely follows and leads the development trends of subject, and several researches, including the Dredging Technique and Equipment, Mechanical Design and Theory, Water Machinery for Flood-fighting and Emergency Rescues, Hydraulic Metal Structure, Hydraulic Structure Detection and Repair, the Theory and Application of New Energy Technology, Computer Aided Design and Underwater Robot Technology, are conducted. Someunique research directions have been established.

2. Training Objectives

Our aim for our graduates is that they will:

4. Applying

3. Once you have created an account please select the relevant programme type. 

4. Follow the instructions specific to your selected programme type in order to begin your application.

Entry requirements

The entry requirements for Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering are as follows:

1. To be considered for admission to a Master's, applicants should have been awarded a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline that offered by a recognized domestic or aboard university or institute. Or He/she has a recognized equivalent education level. Applicants for research must also be in possession of a Master's degree with 80% or better.

2. All applicants are required to provide formal evidence of English language ability that you can read and write academic literature in English and communicate with English fluently. The aim of this requirement is to help and encourage you to work on your English language skills and to ensure that you receive the necessary support to complete your Master’s degree successfully and communicate your work in the wider academic community.

5. Educational System and Duration

The master program is minimum 3 years and no more than 5 years.

 6. Credits and Courses

A master student is required the at least 28 credits of courses, including minimum 19 credits of  Compulsory courses of M.E. degree and minimum 9 credits of optional courses of M.E degree.
